Bill of Sale
From a detailed description of the bike in question, including make, model, year, to any legal warranties or fact disclosures to protect either party from liability or loss, a Bill of Sale provides the complete official record of a transaction.
To be considered valid for legal, tax or commercial purposes – a dirt bike bill of sale must include the following:
Dirt bike info
We use standard information categories and fields to help you identify the dirt bike in question. You can use other required or optional information fields that are best suited to the specifics of your transaction.
- Type: Specify if the bike is “Off-road motorcycle” or “Dual-sport” if street-legal
- Make: Enter the brand name: Honda, KTM, Suzuki, etc.
- Model: Enter the exact model as shown on title or registration documents e.g., YZ250F
- Year: Use the manufacturing year, usually found on the frame or title
- Color: Mention primary and secondary colors if applicable.
- Registration No.: Enter state registration number, if registered for trail/street use – say, CA 8T9032.
- Odometer Reading: If no odometer, record engine hours or write Not Applicable. Scroll down to learn about Odometer Disclosure Statements!
- VIN: Usually 17 characters, found on the frame near handlebars or engine mount, for example, JYACG34C0MA012345.
List of Other Accessories Part of the Sale
It is common practice for a dirt bike sale to cover accessories or add-ons either as part of the deal or for an extra cost. For example, if the bike has any aftermarket accessories, racing or OEM parts, or specialty gear, note it on the bill of sale within the space provided.
If you are selling, this saves you the trouble of finding buyers for each accessory separately. For buyers, it means greater value and convenience as they buy essential gear and tools upfront without the hassle of sourcing them individually.

Sale Details

Legal Warranties

Use this section to specify if the bike is being sold in its current condition and without warranty. If a warranty is provided, specify how long it’s valid for.
Verification
Both parties sign and date to make the document legally binding. For extra verification, you can have a witness sign the document too. Once signed, the buyer gets to keep the original Bill of Sale document, but both parties must retain a copy for future reference and legal purposes.
Notarization (Optional)
In some US States, a bill of sale must be notarized to be legally valid. Even in cases where notarization is not required by law, you are still advised to notarize your Bill of Sale as it adds an extra layer of legal security, making the document harder to challenge in legal proceedings.
Check with your local laws to see if you require notarization or any other additional forms for titling, registration, or off-road certification.
