Here’s a step-by-step guide to using our template:

• Step 1: Insert the date of the sale. All terms & conditions agreed upon by both parties shall be effective as of this date.

• Step 2: Specify the governing state whose laws will apply to the sale. In the event of legal disputes over ownership, condition of the product, or payment, this information will help you clarify which specific laws & regulations apply to a particular sale or transfer.

• Step 3: Identify both parties to the sale (buyer & seller). Add their full legal names, physical addresses, and up-to-date contact information for future reference. Make sure you accurately add any ID numbers (such as a driver’s license or passport numbers) to ensure there is no doubt about who is selling to whom.

• Step 4: Indicate the final purchase price paid by the buyer to the seller. In addition to serving as legal proof of the transaction during disputes, this information is also crucial for tax, insurance, and valuation purposes.

• Step 5: Specify your preferred method of payment, whether cash, check, e-transfer, or debit/credit card. In case of non-monetary payments, for example, if a seller gifted or traded the golf cart to the buyer, you can use this alternate version (given below) of the template.

• Step 6: Record important information about the product being sold as accurately and diligently as possible.

• Step 7: Confirm whether the paid purchase price includes government taxes or not. If included, specify who shall be responsible for paying them. Taxes may include municipal, state, or federal taxes – so, make sure you know which ones apply to your transaction. Note that if the transaction involves a gift, different tax rules may apply. 

• Step 8: Confirm whether the buyer is entitled to a pre-sale inspection or not. Check the first box if the buyer has decided to waive this right, agreeing to buy the product in its current condition. Check the second box if the buyer chooses to exercise their right to a pre-sale inspection, further indicating when the inspection took place. 

• Step 9: Add supporting material to verify specific claims or information promised in the Bill of Sale, for example, if the sale concerns livestock, you might want to attach the past health records of the animals in question. In case of a boat sale, you may be expected to furnish maintenance records, operating manuals, and/or a boat registration certificate, alongside a Bill of Sale.

• Step 10: Execute the agreement by adding dated signatures of both parties (seller and buyer). As a rule of thumb, the buyer’s signature is not needed. However, you are advised to get the form signed by both parties for maximum authentication. If extra verification is required, have the agreement signed by a witness (or two).

• Step 11: Notarize the final document by signing the Bill in the presence of a Notary Public, who verifies the identities of the buyer and seller before adding their official seal and signature. This makes the document harder to dispute in legal proceedings.
