It is a graphical representation of tasks that can assist project managers in tracking, scheduling, and systematically planning their projects. It can be a beneficial tool for project managers, team members, and stakeholders. We offer a free template of the project Gantt chart to assist you in efficiently organizing and managing your tasks.
There is a work breakdown structure of projects into smaller more manageable tasks. It is featured with an automated calendar that updates the days and dates per the set start date. You can expand the calendar to at least four months and manage the timeline for each task by adding its start and end dates. You can also determine the critical path of projects that determine the minimum duration of your tasks.
The Gantt chart will automatically present each task’s timeline on the calendar with a different color to track its progress easily. Moreover, the template will allow you to input the current progress of each task in percentage, and the timeline bar on the calendar will be filled accordingly. Overall, it will give you an overview of each task’s assignee, start date, deadline, and current progress.
This Gantt chart template is easily customizable and allows you to modify fields and adjust the template to your needs. To begin using this template, you can input your project title, company name, and project manager including the start date.
As you input the task start date, the calendar on the right is automated to begin from the same cited date. It is divided into two halves, the left side enlisting the task details and the right depicting a visual track and presentation of your tasks in a calendar. By default, it provides you with four phases, with each phase accommodating multiple tasks that can be modified according to your requirements.
The essential sections of this template are:
- In the left section, you can start by writing the ID and name of your tasks and their owner; as you write these details, they will keep updating on the right side respectively.
- An automation feature has been added to calculate the duration of projects when you write the task constraints which include start and due dates in their respective fields; the duration column, showing the time required to complete a task, automatically calculates and writes the task duration in days.
- Whenever you input the start and end dates of a task, it will automatically visualize the task in the calendar using a timeline bar of solid colors under respective dates.
- The progress of your tasks can be recorded, as you write the progress of a task, it is represented through a progress bar that shows up in the calendar. For instance, if we write 80% in front of any task, it automatically creates a similar 80% filled progress bar in the calendar below the respective days of a month as per its start and end dates. Moreover, you can add colors to specify and track the progress of various tasks in the calendar.
- A customizable calendar displays the progress and timelines of your project tasks, divided into days, weeks, and months for clarity on task durations. In the project timeline, resource leveling can be utilized to ensure optimal resource utilization. It is a twelve-week calendar, weekends are omitted, allowing you to focus solely on workdays.
- At the end of the calendar, a status section is provided where you can update the status of each task using a drop-down list, such as completed, late, on hold, in progress, or delayed. Furthermore, a dedicated configuration sheet has been provided to list the details of the status of tasks.
This template is available in specific file formats, such as OpenDocument Spreadsheet, Excel worksheet, and Excel Template.
