This schedule is named after DuPont Corporation, which for the first time in the 1950s implemented this schedule. Its purpose was to address the concerns about worker safety, fatigue, and productivity which were being affected by continuous work schedules in industries. Keeping this in view, this Dupont work schedule template is developed for industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, and emergency services that can use it to ensure continuous coverage of operations while taking care of employees’ rest routines. Managers or supervisors in an industry can utilize it to track, schedule, and manage their team shifts.

This free template divides employees into four teams, enabling you to set their shift schedules. This template is unique from ordinary Dupont work schedule templates because it also allows you to calculate the shift hours of your employees, their labor costs, and set the alignment of your teams.

It usually has a 28-day cycle, with each day divided into two shifts of 12 hours. Each team works over these shifts of 12 hours, for instance, from 7 AM to 7 PM for the day shift, and the other team would work from 7 PM to 7 AM which can be customizable in the configuration sheet.

The shift rotation in this template is as follows:

If a team completes 3 or 4-night shifts, then they will get three days off. Moreover, if a team works a 3-day shift then they can get 1 day off. And if a team completes a 4-day shift then they can get an entire week off. Such a rotation of work periods can assist teams to experience both day and night shifts and have peace of mind by enjoying consecutive off days.

Company name and start date can be entered at the beginning of this template as the start date is entered, the automated calendar calculates and updates according to it in a format showing the day, date, and month.

The core sections of this template are:

On the left side, it has a column, where you can name your teams per your need. On the right, a chart called employee roster with days, dates, and months is provided with a list or schedule outlining the availability of teams or employees for specific shifts or days. You can set the daily shifts of teams in this employee roster while providing a shift pattern describing the recurring sequence of shifts worked by employees over a specified period.

This employee roster ensures scheduling optimization, which is optimizing shift duties and schedules to maximize efficiency, productivity, and employee satisfaction while reducing labor expenses and compliance hazards.

This template ensures shift rotation to ensure the systematic rotation of employees between different shifts to ensure equitable allocation of work hours and to adapt to varying shift preferences.

At the end of this template, as a manager or supervisor, you can write your name as you approve this schedule, including your signature.

The template includes a separate sheet for calculating each team’s shift hours which typically consists of four members. The sheet features a chart with dates on the left and team names on the right. Each team’s column automatically calculates their total daily working hours. Additionally, there’s a section on the right for recording the daily working hours of all teams, enabling easy tracking of total hours worked per day. Total working hours for each team over 28 days are automatically calculated and displayed at the end of their respective sections. The sum of the total daily working hours of all the teams can also be displayed in the respective section.

The sheet also contains a chart for calculating each team’s labor costs based on their shift hours. Employees can have varying hourly rates, that assist in the calculation of the daily labor costs of a team. Daily and monthly wages for each team are automatically computed based on entered shifts and hourly rates. Total labor costs for each team over 28 days are calculated at the column’s end. You can also get the daily labor costs for each team and the sum of all teams calculated and written in front of each date based on your entered data. You can also get the total of all the team’s labor costs in front of each row in the Daily Labor Cost section.

A configuration sheet is provided, where you can modify the shift start and end times of your teams and their paid hours as per your need.

The template includes an additional sheet for inputting employee names and setting their hourly rates. It also features a section for team alignment, where the total hourly cost for each team is automatically calculated based on your set rates. Additionally, it automatically computes the average cost per hour for each team using the already entered data.
