You might have just found the buyer for your car, but your task is not over yet. A car sale is not complete unless you give the buyer a proper sale receipt. A car sale receipt is proof that you received payment from the buyer. It should not be confused with a Car Bill of Sale. Unlike a receipt, a Bill of Sale is a document that confirms not only the payment but also the transfer of ownership of the car from the seller to the buyer.

The private vehicle car sale receipt template at WordLayouts is detailed and can help you easily create a receipt for the buyer of your car. To use this template, start by filling out the Date and Receipt no. Then, write the name, phone number, and address of the buyer in the Bill To section.

Next, write your full legal name, address, and phone number in the Sold By section. The Vehicle Information Section includes the registration number, make, and model, as well as the mileage from the odometer, the color, and the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).

The financial details of the transaction can be added to the designated spaces. You can write down the total amount due. If you are using this receipt to acknowledge a partial deposit for the car, then include any advance payment and note any remaining balance. You can also mention the mode of payment in the Payment Method field. Finally, you should sign the receipt in the designated areas to confirm the details of the document.

A car sale receipt is a simple document but carries important legal weight as it is proof of the transaction and money being received. This template will help you accurately and easily record all details of your car sale.

You can modify this template if you wish to make any changes to any text field or change the font, color, or layout. It is available in multiple formats, like DOCX, DOTX, Google Docs, and ODT.

Why are There No Tax Deductions in This Car Sale Receipt?

Normally in private sales, the price of the car is lower than the original price, and the seller does not make a profit from it. Therefore, there is no capital gains tax on the transaction. This receipt does not calculate any VAT or any other additional tax in the final price as opposed to a standard car receipt. If you think that you may be making a profit from the sale of your car, then it is best to use the standard car receipt for it.
