So, to prevent ambiguity, scope creep, and mismatched expectations while defining the subcontractor’s scope of work a structured document is provided here. This free template eases effective communication, collaboration, and coordination, leading to the success of the project. It can be used by subcontractors to define their scope of work. In this section of the template, you can write the scope inclusions, which may include specific tasks and deliverables. They may be responsible for ensuring health and safety measures, proper utilization of equipment while working, maintaining quality standards, and handling change management procedures throughout the project. 

Scope Exclusions

Specifying the boundaries of a subcontractor’s scope of work reduces the chances of conflicts and misunderstandings. In the provided section, you can add all such tasks, that are out-of-scope of your work. For example, these may include design services, permitting and regulatory approvals, coordination with other trades, general site conditions, and more.

The tasks may be broken down into the preparation phase, execution phase, testing and commissioning, completion, and handover. Deliverables and Acceptance Criteria

Clearly mentioning the deliverables and acceptance criteria regarding the subcontractor’s scope of work can increase accountability, quality assurance, and risk management. In this field, you can write the deliverables, which might include design documents, construction and installation, reports and documentation, testing and QA, and more. 

Compensation and Payment Terms

Financial clarity for the subcontractor’s scope of work is important because it can help manage expectations, allocate resources effectively, and enhance mutual understanding.
