How to use it?
Recording scores using these score sheets is not as problematic as you think. Take a look at the middle column and you will find 9 sub-columns. Each one of it is for a standard baseball game so you can do at most 9 games using one sheet.
When the batting team records their 3rd out, just put a mark – it can be anything on the lower right corner of the box. Then, move to the next inning since the other team is not batting.
Several abbreviations are provided for you for the game log. Using those abbreviations can also save you time for tedious writing. For example, 2B’ means double, CS’ means caught stealing, while HR’ means a home run.
On top of that, you will also need a number system for positions on the field, like 3 for first base while 9 for the right field. Although you can create your own systems, a standard abbreviations and number systems are available on the website.
The Pitch Tracking Page
There are a lot of boxes in the middle section of the sheet. These are for recording the result of each bat. You need to fill each hitter one below the previous one this time.
A system for each pitch type is also encouraged for convenient. For example, you can use F for a fastball or CU for change up. It is up to you.
The Fielding Page
This is an optional one for you to tabulate post-game statistics and do evaluation. There is one column for player names, and one for errors, assists, and put outs respectively. Tally marks will do easy.
How to score
For batting, put the type of hit at the lower right corner of the box and put a mark on the base reached. If a player draws a walk, or is hit by pitch, draw a line from the lowest corner of the diamond representing the field to the right corner. For more complicated situations, you may refer to the website.
The way to score pitching depends on how many details you want to obtain. For example, you can mark each pitch type down, or you can just tally off each ball and note foul balls.
For scoring fielding, list each filed player by position and use tally marks to record their performance.
